Afriqiya offers special meals to meet specific dietary needs at your request on select flights. Specifications for all medical-needs diets are approved and monitored by a Registered Dietitian. Nutritional requirements are based on the whole meal rather than individual components.

Special Meal Availability

Special meals are available on Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack and Breakfast Snack flights when ordered in advance.

Order at least 24 hours prior to the flight:

  • In Business Classes on transcontinental flights in the Libya.
  • In all classes to or from Europe and Africa
  • Special meals are currently not available on flights to or from Benghazi

Children's Meals- CHML

This meal is provided for children from 2 to 12 years of age. The foods that are included in this meal are foods that are more acceptable by children.

The meal should derive no more than 20% of the total calories from protein, less that 30% of total calories from fat, and 50-60% of total calories from carbohydrates. The meals planned for Continental follow the Recommended Dietary Allowances for children but not for evaluating diets of individual children.

Infant Meals – BBML

This meal is provided for all cabins on flights with Business service and on flights operated by Continental Micronesia. It is available for infants up to two years of age. Approximately 40-50% of an infant's total calories should be from fat to provide the energy that is needed to support the infant's rapid growth and brain development. Reduced fat milks are inappropriate for children under two years of age. There are three levels of baby food - pureed, ground, and chopped. For Continental's infant meal, level two foods have been utilized. Continental infant meals are selected from Gerber Baby Products.

Special Dietary Meals

Diabetic - Meal Code - DBML Suitable for reduced sugar, hyperglycemic, hypoglycemic and carbohydrate controlled meal requests. Gluten Free - Meal Code - GFML also known as gliadin-free, non-tropical sprue, Celiac disease, wheat free, gluten restricted diet. A Gluten Free Meal eliminates all foods prepared with wheat, rye, barley and oats.

Vegetarian (Non Dairy) - Meal Code - VGML also known as Vegan diet. Non dairy. Vegetarian Meals are suitable for pure vegetarians who prefer food preparation without animal, egg or dairy products. Peanuts or nuts may be used as a protein substitute.
